SIX FinTech Ventures invests in PXL Vision AG

PXL Vision AG has concluded its pre-seed round with SIX FinTech Ventures to further fuel its growth agenda and product development, while strengthening SIX’s position in innovative sectors of the financial industry. Zurich-based start-up PXL Vision AG began as a spin-off from the ETH Zurich and offers solutions in the area of online user verification.

By participating in the round, SIX FinTech Ventures has added another key element of digitization to its portfolio, which will be of particular relevance to the Swiss financial center. PXL Vision AG’s Daego solution is a technology that enables seamless online verification of users’ identity with no media break. With this solution, companies can avoid complicated physical verification processes when onboarding customers, reduce costs and provide their customers with a seamless, positive experience. Daego thus allows the automatic creation and administration of secure digital identities.

“Together with PXL Vision AG, we can now not only support an already experienced start-up team, but also a technology that harbors huge potential and that encapsulates our vision of a digitized financial center,” explains Andreas Iten, Head SIX FinTech Ventures. “The acceptance of digitized business models and solutions is crucial for Switzerland as a financial center. PXL Vision AG’s Daego plays a key part in further increasing this acceptance.”

Karim Nemr, founder of PXL Vision AG: “We are pleased with SIX FinTech Venture’s participation and the trust it has placed in us. SIX FinTech Venture’s support and market access mean we are ideally positioned to advance the digitization of the financial center and to provide users with simpler and more secure access to financial services.”

PXL Vision AG successfully completed F10’s P2 program in May 2019, has won accolades such as the Swiss Economic Forum Award and already convinced many Swiss companies of the scalable technology that underpins Daego. SwissSign is also working with Daego for user verification as part of the SwissID.

Since its foundation, PXL Vision AG has successfully established itself on the Swiss market and is growing. Its current focus is on further penetrating the Swiss market and on taking its business global. Aside from lead investor SIX, other investors in this seven-figure pre-seed round include Zürcher Kantonalbank and a private business angel.

Winner of Swiss Economic Award continues growth in Swiss Telco Market with Quickline partnership

Swiss start-up PXL Vision, winner of the Swiss Economic Forum Award 2019, continues to grow its position within the Swiss Telco market with the addition of its most recent client Quickline. Quickline, one of Switzerland’s largest mobile operators and fourth largest full-service telecom provider, has launched a mobile solution for customer onboarding using PXL Vision’s Daego® platform for identity verification. Looking to eliminate the cumbersome and expensive process of manually verifying a customer’s identity, the new solution enables a completely digital workflow for customer onboarding, without requiring the customer to be physically present.

Quickline partnered with PXL Vision to build a mobile app to deliver more efficient and secure digital identity workflows and an improved onboarding experience. “The app allows our customers to easily scan their ID and record a video selfie using a mobile device”, says Marc Loosli, Director Innovation of Quickline Holding. PXL Vision’s biometric facial recognition engine then ensures the document actually belongs to the user by comparing the face from the video selfie to the photo on the document. “This removes the need for any physical identification, allowing users to close a Quickline subscription anytime and from anywhere”, Marc Loosli explains.

Since its deployment with other leading Swiss companies in 2017, PXL Vision has worked hard on further developing its Daego® (digital alter ego) platform for secure and efficient identity verification. These efforts are clearly paying off after winning the high-tech category at the 2019 SEF Awards. “We are extremely proud of the recognition by the SEF, and are excited that Quickline has chosen our technology to help improve sales conversions, reduce fraud, and drive down the cost of customer onboarding” says Karim Nemr, Founder and CBO of PXL Vision. PXL Vision’s Daego® platform is a highly scalable software solution that allows businesses across industries to turn inefficient manual processes into effective, user-friendly, reliable digital identity workflows.

SwissID selects PXL Vision’s Daego technology for its identification process

The SwissSign Group, issuer of SwissID, has selected PXL Vision’s Daego® (Digital Alter Ego) solution for their digital identity verification service which is to be launched during the second quarter of 2019.

To perform the digital identity verification for SwissID, the SwissSign Group will deploy the Daego® technology of PXL Vision. Daego® is a high-tech digital identity verification solution which will enable SwissID users to have their identity verified in a quick, simple and secure manner. With this verified identity, users will have access to various online services which require an identity check. The digital identification solution will be made available to SwissID users during the second quarter of 2019.

Identity verification in real time

The technology from PXL Vision is based on an entirely electronic end-to-end process. In future, SwissID users will scan their valid identity document and make a short video selfie using their mobile phone. In real time, Daego® will then check the authenticity of the document and match it to the user via the video recording. Once the check is successfully completed, confirmation of the verified identity is provided to the user. The Daego® solution supports identity documents from more than 180 countries, meaning that the vast majority of Swiss residents will be able to create a verified identity.

“We are delighted that with our technology we are enabling Swiss companies to operate more agilely and efficiently in an increasingly digital business environment”, says Michael Born, CEO of PXL Vision. “We are also continuously developing our products in order to ensure that we can offer the highest level of security and help eliminate cumbersome physical processes”, adds Karim Nemr, CBO and founder of PXL Vision.

Markus Naef, CEO of the SwissSign Group: “Our customers and partners expect the highest security standards and this is also true with regard to the identity verification with SwissID. It was therefore logical that we would implement the process for a trustworthy digital identity with a technology partner such as PXL Vision. Its product Daego®  meets our very high requirements that we place on a verified identity”.

PXL Vision and Sunrise launch solution for mobile identity verification

Sunrise Telecommunications AG has launched a new mobile customer identification solution based on PXL Beam® OnBoard technology. The solution enables customers to sign up for subscriptions using just their smartphone, without the need of a physical identification. Authentication is done by capturing an ID document and using face matching algorithms for an automated and truly digital verification.

PXL Vision AG, founded in March 2017 by former key employees of Dacuda after the sale to mixed reality leader Magic Leap, has just reached another milestone in its young history. After collaborations with industry leaders like ZEISS and Sunrise Communications AG were announced earlier this year, PXL Vision has now delivered on its promise to launch an innovative computer vision based solution for mobile customer identification for the largest privately held mobile carrier in Switzerland.

PXL Vision has worked hard on reinventing the customer onboarding process and make it an entirely digital experience. The results of this development were announced last week when Sunrise Communication released its Sunrise ID Checker mobile App to the public. Employing PXL Vision’s OnBoard solution, the app enables Sunrise customers to sign up for a mobile subscription digitally, independent of time and location. PXL Vision’s technology uses a smartphone camera to recognize, capture and interpret information of identity documents worldwide. A quick video-selfie then allows an automated face verification against the document photo. As a final step, users digitally sign the contract and can then immediately use the service.

“The Sunrise ID Checker demonstrates the importance of partnering with innovative small businesses in Switzerland. Through our partnership with PXL Vision, other companies and public service providers can also benefit from the straightforward Sunrise ID Checker solution,” says Olaf Swantee, CEO of Sunrise.

PXL Vision is already offering its technology as an SDK to other companies and is launching its own generic identification app for various industries early next year. “We are pleased that we have developed a solution that allows the sales process to be completely redefined, by enabling reliable identity verification without the need of a physical presence. Our solution not only enables remote access to products and services for customers, but also simplifies customer onboarding for retail employees, boosting their sales performance and improving ID security and data quality at the point-of-sale,” says PXL founder Karim Nemr.
